Ever since he had the opportunity to study martial arts closest to where it is seeded in Asia, Master Greg has always kept an open mind about all styles...none being superior to others, and each having something unique to offer. Keeping this kind of flexibility in his training, Master Greg received a letter of recommendation from Master Instructor in Aikido and Hall of Famer Robert Ostovich. Since his separation from the military, Master Greg has dedicated his life to Martial Arts and Tang Soo Do as an instructor, mentor and has selflessly helped and directed kids who have experienced trouble in their family lives or at school. He understands and relates to youth today which is why he does what he does so well. He is a firm believer in the sayings "Winners never quit and quitters never win" and "Can't means won't!" Currently Master Greg is collaborating with other gyms in the area to incorporate a martial arts program at other gyms. His genuine, humble dedication to the expansion of Tang Soo Do on the Treasure Coast of Florida keeps him motivated toward excellence with his students and the expansion of the World Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation. Last year Master Greg led the Traditional Tang Soo Do Academy by helping raise several thousand dollars for St. Jude's Children's Hospital during a Walk-a-Thon where numerous students and family members participated. He plans to have future successful events for such a great cause.
Master Greg comes from a military and law enforcement background. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and worked as a correctional officer for the Department of Corrections for the State of Florida for ten years. He began his martial arts training under his stepfather, 2nd Dan Peter DeFosses, Dan #16034, in 1996, was promoted to 1st Dan in 1998, 2nd Dan in 1999 and 3rd Dan in 2006 by Grand Master Jae Joon Kim, the late president of the World Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Federation. Greg was promoted to Master, 4th Dan, in 2010 by the current president of the World Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation, Saul M. Kim, son of the late Jae Joon Kim. He was recently promoted to 5th Dan in March 2013.While deployed active duty during his enlistment in the USMC, he had the privilege to study Okinawan Karate and trained with the elite Korean Marines in Korea.
